Fact: Even though paper manufacturing uses water, most mills have employed modern, cutting-edge technologies to minimize water consumption. Most of the water consumed is recirculated.
Myth: Paper is bad for the environment.
Fact: Paper is one of the few truly sustainable products that is totally recyclable, reusable, bio-degradable and compostable. Unlike plastics, paper never creates problems of landfills
Myth: Paper production is a major cause of global greenhouse gas emissions.
Fact: The paper sector is one of the lowest industrial emitter of greenhouse gases. Most of the energy used is renewable and carbon intensity is surprisingly low. In fact plantations done by paper industry trap greenhouse gases and make environment healthy.
Myth: Paper is a sunset industry in India
Fact: Paper is growing industry, primarily due to its consumption in the education and packaging segment. With changing lifestyles, per capita consumption is poised to increase tremendously.
Myth: Paper wastes precious resources.
Fact: Paper fits into the circular economy model seamlessly. Its raw material, wood is a renewable, natural and sustainable resource. Like any vegetables, trees are planed, harvested and again planed on the same land.
